The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) recently joined state police in New York for a commercial vehicle enforcement operation along the I-81 corridor.
On September 2, FMCSA shared results from a recent collaboration with the New York State Department of Transportation and New York State Police for a “targeted commercial motor vehicle safety enforcement initiative” along I-81.
The operation resulted in the following:
- 363 commercial vehicles inspected
- 23 drivers placed out-of service
- 20 vehicles placed out-of-service
“Every unsafe driver or vehicle identified and removed from service is one less risk to the commercial motor vehicle industry and everyone traveling on American roads,” FMCSA said.
So far this summer, FMCSA has also partnered with state authorities in Maryland and Virginia to improve commercial vehicle compliance and safety along the I-81 corridor.
