The California Highway Patrol (CHP) found a number of violations during a traffic stop on a commercial vehicle that bypassed a weigh station facility.
According to a September 9 statement from CHP’s Golden Gate Division, troopers with the Commercial Operations Unit initiated a traffic stop on a semi truck after it was observed bypassing a weigh station.
Troopers conducted a commercial vehicle inspection which revealed that “the driver was operating with an out-of-class driver’s license, had no logbook, and was displaying a false paper license plate.”
CHP impounded the truck due to the licensing and driver violations.
Troopers used the incident as a reminder to the trucking community about compliance with state and federal rules.
“Commercial vehicle requirements aren’t just paperwork. Proper licensing, documentation, and compliance help ensure vehicles and drivers are operating safely on California’s roadways,” CHP said.
