Serious traffic accidents involving illegal immigrants with commercial drivers licenses were at the forefront of a House Judiciary hearing covering the dangers of sanctuary cities this week.

The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement held the hearing on Tuesday, September 1st at 10 a.m.

The hearing was titled “Sanctuary Policies, Tragic Consequences,” and was held to examine how sanctuary policies in states such as Colorado, Maryland, and California “endanger communities by putting the interests of criminal aliens ahead of the interests of Americans.”

During the hearing, Representative Bob Onder played video of a semi truck traveling the wrong way on a Missouri highway for miles. That driver was reportedly an undocumented immigrant from Somalia, and had been issued a CDL in Minnesota.

In addition to the wrong way immigrant video, Marcus Coleman, whose 5-year-old daughter Dalilah was severely injured in a crash involving a semi truck driven by an undocumented immigrant with a California CDL, spoke out against the dangers of sanctuary city CDL policies.

A Onder’s presentation can be seen here. Coleman’s testimony can be watched here.

The entire hearing was filmed and can be seen, below.
