A semi truck leaking hot sauce caused a spicy situation at a central Ohio truck stop.
On June 30, 2026, the Berkshire, Sunbury, Trenton & Galena (BSTG) Fire Protection District responded to a report of a semi truck “leaking something” onto I-71.
Eventually, the truck pulled off the interstate and into a Pilot truck stop, and firefighters followed the trail.

“The mystery fluid turnout out to be a trailer full of 40,000 lbs. of Frank’s Red Hot leaking!” firefighters said. “This is one of those careers where you never know what you’re going to encounter.”

The Columbus Dispatch reports that containment pools and other hazmat methods were used to respond to the leak due to concerns about the hot sauce going into local water sources.
The outlet said that the trucking company would be responsible for cleanup of the Frank’s Red Hot.
