Dozens of charges were filed this week against two men for semi truck toll evasion on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
On June 23, 2026, Pennsylvania authorities filed 72 charges against Ashon Harris, 23, and Shawn Harris, 46.
Each man was charged with one count of theft of services, one count of corrupt organizations, and 70 counts of fare evasion.
The charges stem from a traffic stop that took place on I-83 in York County, Pennsylvania, on July 15, 2025.
According to an affidavit obtained by WHTM, Ashon Harris was driving a Freightliner truck with attached trailer when he was stopped by a Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) trooper for a piece of paper obscuring the vehicle’s license plate.
The truck was inspected at a nearby weigh station. The inspection uncovered that the truck had no registration displayed. Additionally, twenty-one violations were found during the inspection, according to the affidavit.
The trooper said that Ashon Harris was on the phone with supervisor Shawn Harris during the inspection.
The affidavit further alleges that Ashon Harris was involved in a crash earlier in July 2025, and at the time he was cited for fare evasion for an obscured license plate.
Officials said that the truck Harris was operating made around 70 trips on the Pennsylvania Turnpike worth between August 15, 2024, and July 15, 2025.
The fare evasions allegedly cost the Pennsylvania Turnpike $16,097.74 in lost tolls.
