The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) arrested two people in connection with a major seafood cargo theft incident
On April 25, 2026, GCSO announced the arrest of the following two suspects on a first degree felony charge of Theft of Cargo ≥ $200,000.

- Leonardo Lara
GCSO began an investigation after receiving information that a cargo shipment of snow crabs valued at over $250,000 had been stolen.
Deputies located the semi truck and initiated a traffic stop in the 8800 block of IH-10 West in Guadalupe County, Texas.
The stolen cargo was identified and successfully recovered. The shipment was later returned to the owners of the cargo.

Velez and Lara were arrested and booked in a local jail.
