At PrePass, we know how important it is to stay ahead of new toll changes so your fleet can plan routes, manage costs, and avoid surprises.

Below are upcoming toll rate updates and newly tolled roads expected in 2026 that could affect your routes and budget. These toll changes are issued by the respective agencies and do not reflect PrePass service fees.

Confirmed 2026 toll rate updates:

  • PA Turnpike (PTC): 4% increase—effective January 4, 2026
  • Port Authority NY/NJ (PANYNJ): $0.25 per axle increase for Classes 2-6— continues annually through 2028. On bridges and tunnels operated by the Port Authority, a 3% increase in tolls will take effect on January 4, 2026.
  • Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge (NYSTA): Scheduled increases in January 2026 and 2027.
  • Bay Area Toll Authority (BATA): Annual increases planned from 2026 to 2030.
  • Colorado CTIO: Proposed 3% increase for 2026.
  • MTA: All toll rates will increase 7.5% at all facilities.
  • New Jersey Turnpike Authority: 3% toll increase on Turnpike and Parkway drivers, effective January 1, 2026.
  • Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission (DRJTB): Increases for tolls on eight bridges that cross from New Jersey and Pennsylvania. New uniform system-wide rates set to begin on or about January 1, 2026.
  • Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT): The Downtown and Midtown tunnels will see rate increases come Jan. 1, 2026, according to Elizabeth River Crossings.
  • Ohio Turnpike (OTC): 2.7% increase effective January 1, 2026.
  • Harris County Toll Road Authority (HCTRA): Montgomery County’s SH-249 Tollway increase effective January 1, 2026.
  • Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority (FBCTRA): 2% CPI adjustment effective January 1, 2026.

More tolling changes are expected to be announced throughout the year, and PrePass will continue to monitor and share updates as they’re released.

New Roads & Extensions Opening in 2026:

Several new toll roads and express lane extensions are scheduled to open in late 2025 and 2026, including:

  • Kansas (KTA): 69 Express (express lanes between 103rd and 151st streets)—January 2026
  • Washington (WSDOT): SR 167 completion, connects I-5 to SR 509—late 2026
  • Virginia (VDOT): 495 Express Lanes extension—late 2025/early 2026
  • Texas (TEXpress): New lanes on I-635 East and I-30 in Tarrant County—late 2025

Note: Many tolling agencies adjust rates annually based on inflation (CPI), often without formal announcements. Always confirm rates directly with the issuing agency.
