The Mid-America Trucking Show has announced the return of the Big Rig Build-Off for the 2026 show, taking place March 26–28, 2026 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, KY.
The Big Rig Build-Off brings together some of the industry’s leading builders in a head-to-head competition of creativity, craftsmanship, and skill. Each builder will unveil a brand-new custom build, competing for a $20,000 grand prize.
The 2026 lineup includes:
- Luke Rethwisch, Rethwisch Transport LLC – The returning Big Rig Build-Off champion, Rethwisch leads a new generation of custom truck builds from Tomah, Wisconsin. Blending old-school craftsmanship with modern design, he continues the family’s iconic “Truckin’ for a Cure” mission through their signature pink Peterbilts and the celebrated “Pain Killer” series.
- James Stegall, Stegall’s Truck Shop – From his Perryville, Missouri shop, Stegall has become a leading name in custom truck building, known for clean designs and unmatched detail. Following the success of his award-winning “Afternoon Delight” at MATS, Stegall brings his uique style to the 2026 Big Rig Build-Off.
- Randy Menkel, Never Satisfied Builds/J&L Contracting LLC – Led by Project Manager Randy Menkel, Never Satisfied Builds, the custom division of J&L Contracting, transforms elite heavy-haul craftsmanship into show-stopping custom trucks.
- Andrew Ditz, Stickerbilt Customs LLC – Founder of Stickerbilt Customs and former builder with Chrome Shop Mafia, Ditz is known for his clean, detail-obsessed approach to custom truck design.
These builders will showcase their latest creations in front of MATS attendees in the PKY Lot, located in front of the West Wing. Attendees can view the builds throughout the show and meet the builders. A panel of judges will critique these builds based on creativity, detail, and overall execution. The winner will be announced during the PKY Awards Ceremony on Saturday March 28 at 10 a.m.
