Police officers in Custer County spent Tuesday passing out frozen hotdogs after the load was trashed by the company following a rollover semi truck crash.
The accident happened on Monday night, June 30th in Custer County, Colorado.
According to KKTV11, the semi truck overturned on Highway 69 south of Westcliffe near mile marker 52. A reason for the crash was not released, but police say that no one was hurt.
As a result of the crash, the load of frozen food products became dislodged, causing the whole load to be trashed by the company, who said the product could no longer be sold. Police officers then decided to share the food with the community rather than throw it in the trash.
Officers brought the frozen hotdogs and other food to the Custer School and Alta store in Westcliffe to keep the food items frozen until they could be passed out on Tuesday, July 1st.
Food pickup for anyone interested started at 9 a.m. on Tuesday in the west parking lot of the Custer school. Families were asked to limit their haul to two grocery bags full.
