A woman with a weapon is presently obstructing Interstate 45 in Houston while sitting in a lawn chair, following what appears to be a collision with a semi-truck. This event took place near the 17700 block of the I-45 North Freeway close to Cypresswood Drive in Houston, Texas. The collision happened around 1:50 p.m., triggering the standoff. On Thursday, June 26th, Click2Houston News reported that the woman was first involved in a collision with a semi-truck. Following the incident, she left her vehicle armed with a handgun and placed a lawn chair on the freeway. “Despite receiving multiple verbal instructions to surrender the weapon, she refused to comply,” stated Harris County Constable Mark Herman. This led to a standoff between her and the police. By 3 p.m. Negotiators have reached out to a family member to see if they can assist in resolving the situation. Southbound traffic is being redirected at SH 99, while northbound vehicles are being diverted at Cypresswood Drive.
