This week, the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) filed charges against a truck driver accused of entering a construction zone after ignoring multiple warning signs, which posed “a considerable safety hazard.” At 1 p.m., the JCSO was alerted to a traffic hazard on State Road 7 North. On June 23, deputies found that a 53-foot semi truck had illegally entered an active construction area filled with several dump trucks, heavy equipment, and many construction workers. The police reported that the driver ignored nine clearly visible warning signs, which included road closure notifications, detour instructions, rumble strips, and various barricades before accessing the restricted area. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office stated that this incident created a “significant safety risk.” Authorities have arrested a 22-year-old truck driver from California, known as “Ankush,” and charged him with Reckless Driving (A-Misdemeanor). According to an Indiana sheriff, the driver ignored nine warning signs and drove into a live construction area.
