The worldwide supply chain is experiencing a major shift due to tariffs, increasing trade barriers, and the advancement of technologies. According to Erez Agmoni, co-founder and general partner at Interwoven Ventures, a promising approach for trade participants to enhance efficiency and address various disruptions is by integrating AI computer vision with digital twin technologies. A digital twin serves as a virtual representation that can model a supply chain. Computer vision, a branch of artificial intelligence, allows computers to “see” and make sense of images and videos like humans do. “The combination of AI, digital twins, and computer vision is truly remarkable,” Agmoni shared in an interview with FreightWaves. “Allow me to explore alternative pathways, different supply chain providers, and innovative concepts.” By inputting more data into that, you’ll be capable of generating new scenarios to address those issues. Some days it’s about war, other days it’s tariffs, and on other occasions, it’s related to Covid. Interwoven Ventures, a venture capital firm based in New York, focuses on early-stage investments in technologies like robotics and AI aimed at revolutionizing sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, and transportation. Prior to co-founding Interwoven Ventures, Agmoni served as the global head of innovation at Maersk, a major shipping company, where he led efforts to enhance efficiency in the supply chain using technology. According to Agmoni, his experience at Maersk emphasized the necessity of first understanding the specific problems that need addressing. He stated, “It all begins with asking, ‘what is my problem?'” “You’re not merely creating a digital twin just to claim that you have one,” Agmoni stated. “You create it to address these specific issues.”
